Hudson Library | HUDSON
The Hudson Regional Library in Pasco County is a 32,640 square foot facility, which also functions as administrative headquarters for the Pasco County government library system. The construction consists of a simple steel frame, a brick cavity wall system and a combination of flat and sloped metal roofs. This is a new Art Deco style reminiscent of 1930 governmental and industrial construction of central Florida.
Monumental entry columns and a canopy welcome clients to the library, located between formal projecting meeting rooms and administrative office wings, which are designed for public and staff use after library hours. The library plan consists of a 40-ft. wide main axis, housing circulation and reference/ information space with a 35-ft. high clerestory. This main axis leads to two special garden view rooms for special book and periodical collections. The major cross axis houses the general adult reading area and the children's service area.
