Thompson Center | TAMPA

The project consists of six 60,000 sq. ft. tilt-slab bulk storage buildings (opposite hands). The buildings contain a combination of 30 foot and 40 foot bays. Bold architectural elements include elliptical columns supporting a curved facia band, metal handrails painted to match the vivid accent banding, and raised planters brimming with lush greenery combine to create a human-scale office/ professional image at the front, contrasted by efficient no-nonsense dock-high loading at the rear.

High density floor-area-ratios are achieved while maintaining a park-like setting through the use of abundant architectural planters and generous site landscaping. Careful attention was given to site planning and vehicular circulation results in the separation of car traffic from truck traffic and the creation of well-concealed yet efficient loading areas. A pragmatic approach employing simple systems, modular geometry and proven technology results in buildings that can be built easily, rapidly and cost effectively.
